Post-Doctoral Resident

Dr. Rachel Oakes earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Saint Louis University and completed her pre-doctoral internship within the Veterans Affairs Maryland Healthcare System, specializing in the treatment of trauma and PTSD. She is currently a postdoctoral resident under the supervision of Megan Barone, PsyD.

Dr. Oakes has a wealth of experience working with individuals who are healing from traumatic experiences, feeling overwhelmed by their emotions, or feel stuck in patterns they can’t change. Dr. Oakes also supports clients dealing with anxiety, religious or spiritual concerns, and relationship issues. She is LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcomes clients who want a space to discuss or explore experiences related to their identity.

Dr. Oakes takes an integrative approach, implementing evidence-based techniques from Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and mindfulness approaches to support clients in reaching their goals. Dr. Oakes is also trained in structured treatments for PTSD including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE).
